Sony has recently expanded its Xperia family with a new Android smartphone positioning on the high-end market. Xperia Z stands at several levels. On the one hand it sports a minimalist frame polyamide, secondly it is true figure cameraphone sensor with 12.1 megapixels. With its quad-core chip, the Sony Xperia Z is also one of the most powerful phones we’ve tested, and finally distinguished by its seal.
The Sony Xperia Z has a 5-inch screen for a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. In this sense, it follows the market trend and riding the wave of « phablets » halfway between a smartphone and tablet. Slab scratchproof mineral glass is mounted around a skeleton polyamide and fiberglass. Like the iPhone 4 and 4S or recent Nexus 4, the back of the smartphone is also made of glass. In terms of dimensions, Xperia Z shows a length of 139mm and a width of 71mm. Also note that it is relatively thin: 7.9 mm against 7.6 mm for the iPhone 5 and 9mm for BlackBerry Z10 or 9.1 mm for the Nexus 4. The smartphone has the distinction of being waterproof. The manufacturer said it had received the degrees of protection IP55 (dust and splash proof) and IP57 (dust and immersion up to 1 meter of water).
Sony offers a slight customization of Android system, which is provided in Version 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). Within the options we find first of all predefined graphic themes. With these it is possible to add an accent color in the icons of the parameters and different wallpapers section.
